Can anyone tell me what my problem may be. I have a freightliner century and when I put it in gear the rear axle turns but the other axle doesn't and the truck will not move.

Does locking in power divider help?
Rear axle is the pull axle, unless you lock in the divider, I’d say the rear end went out, you can limp it to a shop if you have a power divider lock

    Could be through shaft.

Unless it’s a tag axle, there is is, one pulls, one rides along unless power divider is put on, then locks both axles to “pull”

Both axles drive all the time. Locking in the power divider just means both axles are forced to turn together at the same speed.

Unlocked its a balancing act between all 4 wheel ends. Lose traction on one or break a component and you lose that balance and now you sit.

    Why your crazy.
If you ever get that rear axle over a hole/high center, that rear axle will turn and spin in the air.
Locking the power divider, allows other axle to pull.
If not, you are stuck, get a wrecker, or a flatbedder with a chain.
    I figure it’s a broke axle.
But maybe, by some thoughts it’ll end up he just has a flat.

No way, no how. A normal tandem axle truck with power divider unlocked any of the 4 wheel ends can be powered. As A model cat said, all things equal all 4 wheels will receive power. Once ANY of the 4 wheel ends looses traction I will spin.

Jack up any corner of your drive axles and put truck in gear, that wheel in the air will spin. Set it down and jack up a different end and it will spin. Do it with all 5 wheel ends and the one in the air will spin every time

    Stray_Dog and AModelCat Thank this.

Same thing happens if the front axle leaves the ground. It will sit and spin until you lock the power divider
