I got guilted / pushed into it by the company I worked for.

The good of it is you learn that whenever you are in a yard you give the jockey the right-of-way. You learn that whenever you need something and you are in a yard try to approach the yard jockey at a time he's not busy and be cool and polite about what you're asking. You also learn that if the jockey is in a bad mood, you understand why.

    Myself, I absolutely hated it.

The yard dogs at my terminal are the kings of the yard, and with good reason. They are the oil that keeps the machine moving.

Most yard dogs are garbage scum , it's probably because how crappy the job is with low pay it draws in low life's . Twice iv tossed a bag of #### in their cabs when they aren't in them . I can only imagine that smell , both times summer too . That's what you get for acting a fool

EVERY DRIVER HAS A DIFFERENT VIEW!!
The "attitude" usually derives from the "Quality" EQUIPMENT, not the Operator, though, I'll agree to a small point, there are those Switcher Operators that appear questionable yet the Majority Run Their Yards and may "appear" at times to "have a bad (or alternate) attitude".

    My Opinion:
Unless One has BEEN a Yard Dog/Shuttler, One appears to assume Driver/Operator Qualities.
WE current and ex-Yard Dog Drivers will continue to see those "Professional Road Drivers" who whine about US yet tear up their equipment getting to Docks or expect US to help you. I used to park and watch for free entertainment, then continue my shift.
Slow Down, Step Back, Use Patience as such helps everyone.

    Nasty "Gifts" roll both ways!
    CHEERS!!

By looking at your post you get out of life what you put in, and so far you put in a bag of Sh!(. . People are people, if you dont know them then you have no idea of how they are, maybe the goat driver you ran into just got done dealing with aomeone like you. I just hope other drivers are judged by what someone thinks when they meet you.

I typically do it when you get one of those power God yard dogs . Truck drivers are treated like garbage anyway so have at it ain't nothing we ain't use to , and im always greatfull when a good yard dog helps out and I will be easy and out of your way, act stupid and I'll put 5th wheel grease on your door handle. Or a bag of ole magic in your cab

Still with John Fayard but at a different site. Yard is actually paved but still another lousy truck with no A/C and I work by the gulf. This job is horribly underpaid to but this is an awful job market for hometime jobs. Someday, I need to save up and move out of here.

Anyway, aside from the many complaints this is mostly Trailer Spotting but they also sometimes have me run a trailer with a Day Cab to one of their nearby warehouses. They have way to much inventory it's barely managed chaos with major pain in the ### customers.

I think I want to pivot off this to another local road driving job if I can. I do like the idea of Yard Spotting, but I'm concerned if my legs and especially knees are up to working a bigger fast paced facility. I just turned 45.

    ( Why can't I just get a rollup door gig ;) )
