Another reason why I went to tankers 20 years ago and never looked back!
Funny, I never had to pay anyone to load that refer, just to unload it! Go figure.smokey12, Trucker61016, Lumper Humper and 4 others Thank this. -
I am with you there, spent enough time with a reefer hope to never pull one again.Lumper Humper Thanks this.

That means 3 hours of detention pay, works for meTrucker61016 and Lumper Humper Thank this.

What I still don't understand is why does the truck have to sit there while they re-palletize? Why not unload, let the truck go, and THEN re-palletize?
alds, Gearjammin' Penguin, gentleroger and 3 others Thank this. -
Amen

Compare that to every flip-flop wearing, roller dog eating, seat warming, professional steering wheel holder having to unload their own 53', the slowest lumper service is still faster. Imagine how long the wait for a dock would be if you weren't the first appointment for your assigned dock for the day. It takes some of these so-called drivers 15 minutes to waddle in to get a fuel receipt and their roller dog supply...imagine how long them unloading a load would take.Lumper Humper, Trucker61016 and bzinger Thank this.

I'm paid on percentage, our detention rate is $90 to $200 per hour depending on the customer, I get 30% of that detention pay, three weeks ago, I had a load that under normal situations pays me $400 round trip, customer took 6 hours to unload, 4 hrs x $150 = $600 x 30% = $180, since the customer took 6 hours to unload, I ended up laying over, which was billed as well, that $400 load, paid $1,000, not bad for 24 hrs work, and I still got 4 more percentage loads in that week.slow.rider, Lumper Humper, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this.
