I drive part time for my company, AKA when I want. I forfeit being eligible for benefits within the company, but that’s fine with me. This is what I get.
1. any schedule I want because I make my own.
2. Base pay .52 per mile
3. If I do 3000 miles in a week, it’s .55 per mile.
4. Drop and hook 95% of loads, never sit more than an hour anywhere in any week. They literally keep me moving from one stop to the next and most halls are between 800 and 1200 miles. I.e. I have to go out of my way to get less than 3000 miles per week. Lol
very happy with my current setup. I drive typically two weeks on and take a week off or drive 7/4. Ot works for them, it works for me.
Only drawback is I have to clean the truck out obviously when I go home, but that usually takes me less than about 45 minutes.
I don’t understand why more companies don’t offer this type of set up. So many drivers would continue driving if they could be flexible like that.Rocks Thanks this. -
I remember back when it 39 cpm. Long hauls and high miles really can make trucking enjoyable.

Wow a 2 cent bonus for every mile over 12000? We have a higher base rate, and pay 40 cents bonus for every mile after 9900. That’s pulling an open deck, so more work then drop and hook dry van, but significantly more money too. It’s easy to make 6 figures here.

$.22/mile to the Team. 11 cents/mile per driver. Those were the days. Rollin in the dough.
