Do yall wait around? I had a week 3 weeks ago. I had 27 hours of waiting to be loaded(multiple loads throughout the week). Of course got paid for only 5 hours of it. I've been debating just leaving these disrespectful shippers after 2 hours. Currently in Birmingham picking up iron pipes. Been almost 2 hours. Brokers freaking out that imma leave. Well your measly $30 a hour after 3 hours ain't worth my time. Just seeing what other owner ops in flatbed do

How the heck do you get to sit for 27 hours and only get paid for 5?

I would not tolerate it as an owner, I would have told the shipper the truck is leaving, loaded or not.

Had a driver wait for 40 hours this past February, the driver was there for 10 hours, and I got pissed when I found out. I called the consignee, went back and forth with the issue and told them I’m moving the truck out of there so she said what ever it takes and said to add drivers expenses to it, so they had a $6000 bill for detention and and $2000 expenses bill for that truck sitting on-site for 40 hours waiting. It was a 300 mile trip and it would have been easy to find another truck but they said they would pay and they paid.

I’m not in flat bed but if it’s been a couple hours with no end in sight then then we’ve definitely left before. It’s like if your not going to respect our time, we’re not going to respect your load.

When the market isn’t so good then it’s tougher to find a good replacement load and sometimes you just need to wait it out.

I pull a hopper, they usually don’t pay detention on them but I got paid for 5 days sitting in TX, and I was unloaded on the 5th day.
    27 hours...Someone is keeping your money.

I'm running flatbed because I'm impatient AF. Been lucky so far, and had to wait 45 minutes once to get loaded. Unloading has been done as soon as I arrive.

Haven't pulled anything out of a BIG lumber or steel mill though, and have stayed out west so far.

Not sure, but I bet I'll be asking questions at two hours, and leaving at three. For right now anyway.

The advantage of a great market right now.

My nephew does flatbed and he’s has to wait a couple of hours on each end on the other trucks in line ahead of him. Or wait on the operator to load the cargo.

    I wouldn’t sit for more
Than a couple of hours if they are ignoring me .
If there’s 8 trucks in front of you and they are working steadily to load or unload them . Well ain’t much you can do about that.

I’ll wait if the shipper is working. If they are fooling around and not doing anything I’ll bounce. So far I haven’t had to leave but came real close about two weeks ago.

Move up to over size. Other than ports I am typically loaded/unloaded in 20 minutes.

I pull an RGN and rarely wait.....the other day I was waiting an hour and I emailed the broker and told them I was giving shipper 30 more minutes....... I magically got loaded. Load was only going like 140 miles but, thats not the point.

I loaded at Newport News port this morning, in and loaded within 30 minutes.... I cant speak for all ports but typically the ones I frequent im in and out pretty quick....Norfolk can be a mess but I never pick up there unless I can load at 0730-0800 because they take so many breaks and 2 hours lunches. I don't mind the breaks but the 11-1 lunch is crazy
