I don't see how anyone would not like them for a luxury highway car. Engines run so smooth if your not used to it, you will be trying to start it while its already running. The interior fit & finish is really classy. Can just barely hear the engine at idle standing next to the car, I mean barely. Bose stereo, hi fidelity sound.

Of course I'm a sucker for Japanese engineering. So much better than German cars imo, and when it comes to maintainence, there basically isn't any besides fluid changes. Maybe a timing belt at 120k. They easily hit 300k miles. Well engineered automobiles.

Never have heard the L is for loser thing.

Of course I can understand if someone's taste are loud mufflers, rolling coal, etc, which there is nothing wrong with that. Even so, you still need something fancy to take to church on Sunday or for a night out for a nice dinner right?

My daily driver is an F350, the ex old lady always drove a sedan and we would take it on road trips.

My reason for the 'L is for losermobile' is because so many people who drive them think they're privileged and think they are special and deserve special treatment, but in real life, they are total ########s. And why would you have a 'fancy' vehicle for church? Trying to impress God or your fellowship members with your earthly possessions? If they can't accept you in a muddy beatup pickup, why should they accept you in a Lexus. The fanciest vehicle we own is a 2016 Ram 1500...and it's muddy because we live in a rural area on a dirt road, and when we go to town for a night out, it's parked next to other muddy pickups.

now is the best time in history for the gasoline internal combustion engine. hands down. this is evident when you look at any kind of grass roots racing and the ICE performance offered by even the turbo 4 cyl cars.

i can see na v6 engines going away. they serve no purpose when the T4 cyl make the same power and get better mileage. the new v6 motors are ohv which imho adds endless possibilities for problems. miles of timing chain, plastic tensioners, etc. no thanks.

i'm a v8 guy. with that being said, my dd is a 25 year old inline 6 cyl with 369k miles on it. my next dd will be a T4 with a manual transmission.

    I'm guessing a 12 valve, or a 300-6. Am I close?

Fancy for church because, at least in the old days you would dress nice, so need to take the nicest ride to stay clean and comfortable.

Edit: To each his own, I think no less of anyone for what they drive. But for me, Sunday is nice clothes and best ride I've got.

Sure the newer engines push more ponies... But can they handle the high torque the older engines could create? Or how about the longevity and amount of abuse they can take?

One thing that has increased longevity is unleaded gas. Oil stays cleaner, along with everything else. Add improved oil. Toyota increased their intervals to 10k, for warranty purposes, years ago. Others have upped theirs to 7500. It’s hard to say, the old cars would rust out much quicker. Engines would wear out at 120k. More hwy commuter miles these days. Average up from about 8k to 15k a year. A few exceptions, I’ve seen are slant 6, Ford 300, Chevy 350, with over 200k. A few with 300k. No one kept them long enough to find out. Definitely never get the torque of a big block V8, from a 4 banger. New electric vehicles are really amazingly fast and full of torque. Soon they’ll be eating Hemi Challengers for Lunch. Lol. It’s crazy, no noise, only 1 forward gear. I saw the first electric Dragster on TV. It’s just not right!!!

That Brit Jeremy Clarkson had a drag race between a Tesla SUV and an Audi S8(maybe an R8...like the Audi Tony Stark drives in Iron Man) with a V-10. In 'Ludicrous mode', the Tesla smoked the Audi at first...but by the finish line you could see the Audi gaining fast...mostly because, like you said, the electric car has 1 forward gear and was at it's maximum rpm...

For those who think the modern turbo 4's are as good or better as the older v6 or v8's...search Youtube for all the problems people are having with the new Ecoboost Fords as an example...there is no replacement for displacement.

I bought a 2019 Corvette Grand Sport last November to celebrate the coming apocalypse. I recently took it on a 1000 mile trip to Michigan--it averaged a hair shy of 30 mpg at 80ish miles per hour with quite a bit of standing on the pedal on ramps. I was shocked. This, from a car that will do 0-60 in 3.8 seconds.

Meanwhile, my Chevy Prism (Toyota Corolla) gets 33 mpg best at 70 mph... and feels scary as #### going that speed. The Prism will do 0-60 in about 14 days.
