I have thinking of switching jobs to sysco or central transport out of visalia ca. They are the closest to my domicile since everything else is mostly agriculture. I have reefer, dry van, and tanker experience currently hauling milk for the past 3 years. I'm just trying to get weekends off cus currently I get a weekend every 3 months

I am trying to stay local not trying to go over the road again. I'm just trying to find out which of the 2 would be a better outfit

Sysco vs Central Transport...a kick to the groin vs a kick to the stomach.
I guess it’s not really that bad, just depends if you’re down to do some really physical labor or not. I didn’t mind doing foodservice delivery, but I might have had a different opinion if I lived in the desert. Central gets a bad rep but their pay is competitive and the job would be easier.bentstrider83, Texas_hwy_287, Tanker805 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yea I know either one ain't the best. I have done the dollar general account before so I know about the physical part.LoL All the other good carriers are about an hour away and for the most part those 2 are competitive with everyone one around my area .Or should I just stick it out hauling milk putting in 80 hours a week an yes its in California where exempt because were considered Agriculture so we can work 16 hours every day. We are in 112 hour clock a week here so when winter comes we put in close to 90 hours a week

Central is less work cause it’s pallet jack not hand unload vs Sysco. Both companies are financially stable. Central’s equipment ain’t the best but they are improving. Sysco is the biggest Foodservice company in the US. This is central with the yellow trucks not green?

Radman and bentstrider83 Thank this.

Why? -
Sysco has the driver facing cams and for the work you do the pay is not commensurate. A lot of loading and unloading boxes down icy/slick/snow covered ramps in the winter, constantly in and out of cold storage units which will make you more susceptible to respiratory infections like pneumonia and bronchitis.Gearjammin' Penguin, bentstrider83, Tanker805 and 1 other person Thank this.
