At the moment I have an iPhone and iPad each with unlimited data but with a defined amount of high speed data and a regular hotspot for non video low speed baseline wifi for my RM GPS and a couple other always on items.

at times I have to bounce to different hotspot options depending on which device has any high speed or unthrottled data available.

what I’d like to find is a home wifi router piece of equipment that could catch any of these cellular hotspots to use as my wifi. I think they make such a device for folks that live/work 24/7 in their RVs but might use all three major cellular companies for data but I’m not sure. Still looking into that area for ideas.

So I thought I’d ask here, anyone use such a device that can grab multiple hotspot services and then make whichever is fastest the main data source for a wifi setup?

(yes, I have a couple issues where this would address a few irritations in my current setup)

    Thanks

Their is no good free wifi on the road that I know of. You have to pay and the truck stops wifi are not very good most times.

This would work but you have to pick your cell phone company Nomad Internet: The Largest & Best Rural Unlimited Internet

Starlink is just getting started and Elon Musk claims is working on or hoping he can do mobile satellite internet. They are still beta testing his satellite internet for home use and still putting up the satellite to build out the system.

    $550… Ouch

I don’t mind putting out a bit of coin for a good solution, just wasn’t thing that many coins… lol

thanks for the link and I will certainly keep it in the mix. Website said a newer version with 5G coming June/July so I might as well wait to see how much it is. Probably even more.

    Again, thanks for the link!!!

Not looking for free… I’m spending over $100 for my wifi as it is and just looking for a solution to combine them for something.

and I totally agree about truck stop wifi. I tried it for a couple months before tossing that idea as it’s just not viable. At that point I upped the cellular options in the truck.

thanks for the link. I’ll check it out too.

Ya, I’m watching that option too. I’d be one of the first beta testers as soon as a mobile option comes available.

I might just have to keep the status quo a bit longer until that mobile version pops up.

That model is more expensive because of the dual sim option that lets it choose between networks. I use an older $299 model. Pop in a Visible sim and I’ve got unlimited, unthrottled wi-fi for $25/mo. anyplace I can get a Verizon signal.

    What is a visible sim?

Im curious about this as the new house im moving to has no high speed internet available. So, I need to get hotspot service or a "fixed home wireless" plan. The hot spot plans seem to all have a certain gigs per month and then they throttle you back.
