Nah, the next set of keys I turn in will be my last. Gonna be fishing by day and hunting Kentuckians by night. Lol

I thought you are in Florida. These companies may not hire in California; don't know for sure.

Actually it is only a drop yard. The terminal is shut down. I learned that the hard way.

back in 2018, I went to DHT. I had been out of a truck for 4 years at that time. They had me do a "refresher" and go out with another driver. I think you do 10K miles then test out for your own truck. I was 2 days away from getting my truck and we had an emergency health issue at home that brought me back out of the truck. While I was there, just about 1 month, I found them to be a very nice company and the lanes are awesome. Good luck.

It may be sad... we know that other kinds of trucking pay more... but not everybody can do those... they have physical limitations or other kinds of circumstances that prevent them from doing other kinds of trucking...
For instance, I think I am a little old to start a career in tankers. However, I did look several companies pulling tankers and hauling cryo and other products.. and found they require driver to lift 60 lbs.. which I can't due to some injuries... So, I am restricted to 100% no touch freight... Other jobs like line haul require driving all night, working at the docks sometimes... I am too old for that...
I too have been doing a search on dry van companies in the region where I am that offer the kind of routes I have in mind and allow the hometime that I want... And I arrived at this same question... Crete or Danny Herman...?
None of them is really what I would like and I continue searching a few more. But unless I find something "better", I may have to pick one of them...
The more I hear and read from drivers about Crete, the more I realize they may not be for me because of all the technology they have in their trucks and their micromanaging policies... Their pay may be very good but for me, money is not more important than well being and a certain level of comfort... If I have to sacrifice too much in order to make more money, I rather find something else... There's already too much sacrifice in living in a truck and being regulated under HOS 24/7... don't need more hardship than that...

Sure am. Still very happy with my decision to come over last March. I’m treated like royalty, and get all the miles I want while still getting good rest when I need it. Never knew that I could get the best of both worlds until starting here.

I might as well just spill the beans while I’m here...I’ve just recently bought my own truck and leased on as their newest owner operator, too.
