Any OD Linehaul drivers out of this yard? Want to apply but would like some terminal specific info about a new driver at the bottom. Lay offs? Starve until you quit? (Stay home no work, low miles) thank you guys in advance

That’s a pretty big hub. I would have to think they’d keep you busy even if you have to run wild until you get a run.
Radman Thanks this. -
Wouldn’t mind running wild and actually prefer nights but I read OD had decent amount of layoffs due to COVID, and tend to over hire and or starve the bottom guys til they quit. But who would know better than a driver out of that barn. Thank you LP! Any more info would be appreciated!

LTL is booming. Make money and save it for a rainy day. I’ve read the same about OD over hiring. This won’t dry up for atleast a year. Build that seniority now and don’t go out and buy a 80k SUV and a matching one for the girlfriend or wife.

I agree with all that, but who wants to work for a company with doubts they’ll dump you when it slows? I know it’s always a gamble and I also know how well OD pays. But I can tell you I have a couple buddies thinking about applying as well, and that is the concern. Looking long term.Speed_Drums Thanks this. -

For what it's worth...
I just started with OD in GA as a city driver. We have more freight than we can handle and everyone I have spoke with has said there is no sign of it slowing down. We have many pickups that we can't get to, every day, because there is so much freight. We have loads sitting every week that we can't get delivered. That's the case with all LTL companies right now. OD is a great company, from what I see and hear. My friends that our line haul drivers in our terminal absolutely love it.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
Get in there, go make some money. Stack a 6 month emergency fund in a money market and don't touch it unless you get laid off or have an emergency. The longer you waffle about, the lower on the totem pole you will be.
