That’s a pretty big hub. I would have to think they’d keep you busy even if you have to run wild until you get a run.

 

LTL is booming. Make money and save it for a rainy day. I’ve read the same about OD over hiring. This won’t dry up for atleast a year. Build that seniority now and don’t go out and buy a 80k SUV and a matching one for the girlfriend or wife.

 

OD has been trying to hire a LH guy in my area without much luck and now they’ve posted a ad on indeed for their truck driver training program.. hard to believe $95-100k a year jobs being hard to fill.

 

Best thing you can do is find a driver or a couple of them from that terminal and ask before putting an app in. Always good to research from drivers that work there.

 

For what it's worth...

I just started with OD in GA as a city driver. We have more freight than we can handle and everyone I have spoke with has said there is no sign of it slowing down. We have many pickups that we can't get to, every day, because there is so much freight. We have loads sitting every week that we can't get delivered. That's the case with all LTL companies right now. OD is a great company, from what I see and hear. My friends that our line haul drivers in our terminal absolutely love it.

 

It's like that with ANY trucking company. if freight slows down, you can go on the cut list a few times a week, you can get furloughed or you can get laid off subject to recall. It can happen where I work or where any of these other drivers who work for a company.

Get in there, go make some money. Stack a 6 month emergency fund in a money market and don't touch it unless you get laid off or have an emergency. The longer you waffle about, the lower on the totem pole you will be.

Life has no guarantees of ANYTHING. You could die in your sleep tomorrow. Stop worrying about what if.
