So after a month of training I passed my safety driving and backing test on Friday an am officially a solo driver. USA Truck is running me well. This weekend I drove from West Memphis to Charlotte and should be in Plant City,FL this Thursday. I’m really getting used to this OTR life. Last week I drove 700 miles and could have kept going if my clock didn’t run out. Wondering how it would be to have my own truck now

Whoa, whoa, just a sec, hold on there. I wouldn't consider a truck until AT LEAST a year in, and even then, I don't recommend it. You have a long way to go before a truck purchase, when it's all said and done, you'll make more right where you are, and let the boss have the headaches. Best of luck, and if you don't already have one, by all means get a forward facing camera, is my best advice. Videos don't lie. Don't be a stranger, if something comes up, ask away. It's why most of us old farts are here.

Congratulations on finishing your training. Your training is actually never complete as you will hopefully learn something new every day. Just don't let yourself get complacent. That's when bad things happen.
And I wouldn't be in a hurry to get your own truck until you get a year in, anyway. You need to drive through four seasons of the year and see what you outlook is then. During that year, learn the business and you will get an idea on how much it takes to run a truck.

Congrats man! I wouldn’t consider buying a truck for at least a year. A good way to gauge it is like this. Once, you’ve gotten on a first name basis with all wormins at the Love’s fuel desk in your lanes, then you might consider it.

I'd actually say 3 years. Try lease first. To see how well you do running 1099 and managing your fuel and other expenses.

Also. Please tell me that 700 was an error. I can do that in 2 days. Should be closer to 3k for a week.
