Swing doors vs roll doors?

Roll doors have a lower clearance than swing doors. I tried to load at a place and they couldn't put the product in the door!

Forget it! Pull a flatbed instead.

 

I've pulled roll door and swing door.
Some places won't load a roll up door for the very reason @Bean Jr. posted.
Double stacked pallets sometimes won't clear and you're not allowed to down stack.

 

The only people you see with roll ups are larger companies who do P&D.

I've pulled both, roll up the way to go. Any company that values their drivers, gives them roll up doors. One reason reefers are roll up, is a lot of cold air is lost just backing in with swing doors and with drivers backing skills today, it would all melt. Swing doors add width backing in( never saw anyone take off a roll up door) and you figure how many times you get in and out with swing doors, setting brakes, etc, roll up the way to go. Funniest thing with roll up doors? When someone drops a trailer in a dock with swing doors thinking it was a roll up,,

 

I also figured roll up doors were more for local work, multi stops per day. Less time spent docking but not nearly as well insulated against temperature and water.

If you've ever seen those UPS pups with the clear plastic sticking out the bottom of the door and blowing around, the reason they put that plastic in there is to keep the water that leaks thru the roll door from getting onto the cargo.
