I think I've posted about this before so I apologize for any repetition.

The truck I am currently driving has a Meritor/Wabco air compressor setup with a "system saver" air dryer. This setup has a non adjustable air governor that cuts in at 125 and cuts out at 130 psi. If anyone is familiar with the system saver air dryer, you know it sounds equivalent to setting your parking brakes, extremely loud PSHHHHHH...

I've asked multiple times to have something done about this as I refuse to park at a truck stop when I need to idle for my 10, because with that thing popping off every 5 mins I'm worried about waking the whole lot up. My question is, is it okay to replace a non adjustable air governor with an adjustable one? I have 2 of them at my house that are set up for 105/130. Thank you

If it’s popping every 5 min you must have a leak that’s signaling the governor to load compressor. Have you checked for leaks. Asking because I have same system on my trucks and they don’t cycle at all unless psi drops enough signal compressor cut in.
5 psi difference is unusual as well but yes changing governor isn’t going to hurt anything

If you dont have a requirement to have the higher cut-in/cut-out due to commodity you haul, go for it, no need to annoy yourself and others

No leaks anywhere on the truck, the shop has checked it twice now. There are several trucks that do the same thing mine does

See if setting trailer brakes at night helps

Same result, even without a trailer. I tried everything lol only the trucks with this air compressor setup do this. The ones with Bendix setups are normal

You say you have 2 other governors, just go do it, if neither of those bolt up and work, just cuss a bit more than you did bruising your knuckles swapping em and grab another beer and swap the original back while ordering a set of earplugs... take you 2 hrs if youre a novice with a wrench, might even be pleasantly surprised that it works :p

The compressor and dryer dont have to be paired. It sounds like the dryer is your issue. Put a Bedix drier on it.

All info I have for Bendix and Meritor non adjustable governor, say not to replace preset governor with adjustable.
