The SB's are my favorite looking reefers of all, way cooler looking than any Carrier, and the Precedents are my least favorite looking. To me it looks like they tried way too hard to make the Precedent look bad ###, with those giant wavy bars across the grill and other assorted meaningless intricacies. The SB is understatedly bad ###, with a clean and simple form-follows-function design, it just looks like a rock-solid hunk of machine. The Precedent goes way over the top in the opposite direction, just looks busy, cluttered, and pointless.

Yeah I know, it's just a machine and the important question is how well does it do the job, but still, it needed to be said. Just my $0.02.

Hmm, that gives me an idea: I might be able to tolerate a black on black one. It's rare that I like chrome on a reefer, but that's just me. Although I'm looking at a Precedent now, and most of what makes them ugly to me is the pointless curves. If they simply straightened the grille bars, and straightened out the curve at the bottom of the grilles to be a mirror image of the straight lines at the top off the grilles, then it would look pretty fricken decent. I think I might even really like it with chrome if the lines were straight.

Should be able to pull chrome peice, sandblast, prime and paint with a good enamel.

Or just remove and fab one up out of metal with the look you want and get it powder coated, probably be about 3 k for that if i were near my dads steel shop and doing it (im not, please dont ask me to do that, hands full on working on my own crap :p)

You can get an all black with chrome option. Have an O/O with one. Be prepared for sticker shock down the road when you have to replace parts on them.

Hinged at the top,2 gas struts to lift it up. It gave you some cover when you had to service it.

The white one without chrome has black grilles. I'm thinking they could put those black grilles on one that has the black panels. Like in your pics, take the grilles off the white one and put them on the black one. The curves would still be pointless, but at least they'd be less obvoous.

Oh? The spec sheets show virtually identical stats. Did they fudge some numbers?

Emission system is the problem, any variance in rpm and throttling valve closes and unit stops cooling on c series.S series precedent is better but has electronic injection.I would avoid and buy carrier if looking for newer unit
