Need to know about filling in a log book after a long absence. Since retiring, I have been doing drive away for a local company. I do run a log and carry a medical card due to DOT# and weight. Recently due to the chip fiasco the trucks I deliver have been in short supply at the dealership I work for. They just got 3 in stock that I’ll be delivering this month. Newark, DE., Woodbridge, VA. and Sebring, FL. so I’m sure I’ll be seeing weigh stations. My question is, since I haven’t run for quite awhile (since the end of last year) do I have to show off duty for all the time I haven’t run? If so can I do one page, entry, and put total hours or just start with the day I actually start running again? Thanks.
Log Book after extended absence from driving?

One sheet covering the last seven days before the day you start working, all off-duty. Yes, fill in the hours in the end column and total to 24, e.g., 24, 0, 0, 0, 24. Put the dates in the date blank, e.g., Aug 1-7.

So I just need the last seven days. Don’t worry on any before that? That’s doable. Thanks.

Recording days off duty. Two or more consecutive 24-hour periods off duty may be recorded on one duty status record.Rideandrepair, God prefers Diesels, p608 and 7 others Thank this. -
Huh. Stand corrected. I think the rule is Canadian then. I know one of our guys was ticketed here for doing this.
Rideandrepair and not4hire Thank this. -
I've gotten my ### chewed before by the DOT for putting 7 off duty days on 1 page -
You can do a whole month on one page.
Each month requires a page.
And since only the last 7 days is required.Rideandrepair, p608, kylefitzy and 3 others Thank this. -
Just put in remarks OFF DUTY from - 'start date' thru 'end date' so there a legitimate previous 7 days accounted for.
Rideandrepair, jamespmack, Studebaker Hawk and 2 others Thank this. -
SO... strictly speaking it isn't showing up in the actual HOS, but any officer writing a ticket would have to be an absolute richard cranium to do so. Having said that, I did get written once for not totalling the hours column to 24 even though my entries were 24, 0, 0, 0. Yeah, they wonder why we fantasize about running them over... or maybe it's just me.
124. A motor carrier shall require every driver to fill out and every driver shall fill out a daily log each day that accounts for all of the driver’s on-duty time and off-duty time for that day. Would a driver be allowed to record multiple days off on a single daily log?
Guidance: Yes.Rideandrepair, xsetra, Studebaker Hawk and 3 others Thank this.
