I disagree with this “creeping to the dock” theory. I hate it when people do that. For one thing, you look like a knucklehead driving across the property at 1/2 mph. More importantly, if you go off duty in one spot and back on duty in another spot, that’s log falsification.

Just log it on duty yard move, your 10 hr break will have to start over but oh well, if you get busted falsifying your logs you will have to take another 10 anyway, plus pay a fine. Which one sounds better?

Maybe someone like @ZVar can chime in with the actual regulations.

log out then log in on the dock. I use to rewrite my log book after setting in rush hour traffic in a major city. dallas tx is a big city. i never left dallas tx. so my log always stayed the same current location. why waste 30-45 or even a hour in traffic. lol

If the OP's company doesn't allow yard move status, how do they get from staging area to the dock without driving the truck?

That would work great on a paper log, because you only have to write the nearest city for your location. Elogs record your actual distance from the center of the nearest city, or something like that. That’s why I say that doesn’t work with elogs because it could show up as being in two different locations while off duty.

What happened to the stopping your 14 hour clock for up to 3 hours off duty or sleeper birth, then continue when there ready for you?

My Peoplenet shows movement if I change parking spots within the same truckstop...if I log off so a company mechanic can pull it in for a grease job and then he parks it in the same exact parking place I left it after he's done, I have to reject some time on the unit for unassigned movement of the truck.

Why wouldn’t they allow it? Not being a smarty pants, lol, I just don’t see any logic in not allowing that option.

Some remove it because drivers mis-used it. That along with PC time is a privilege at some companies.

3 hours doesn't stop the 14, only 7+ continuous in the bunk does.
