True. Some like it, some like home every weekend. While others prefer the long haul where you can have four to five days straight home. I've done them all. The only type of trucking I did not like was otr refer

Like LTL it isn’t for everybody. In trucking sometimes you have to find your niche.

I talked to an ABF driver out of Dallas a few weeks ago. The job description lost my interest so I never got to the pay aspect. This guy started his week at some early hour on Monday. Then he drove out and dropped n swapped with another driver. When he gets in he’s guaranteed his ten hour break and then he’s on call. Lots of overnights to Albuquerque then he’ll run out of there for a run or two before heading back to Dallas. Lots of six day weeks too.

There’s good money to be made I’m sure but I’ll bet it takes a long time to get a good set route. Also slip seating those sometimes old and archaic day cabs doesn’t sound appealing. LTL isn’t for everyone.

Your right. If you are at the bottom of the seniority the runs can be not so pleasant

Otr sucked when I did it 8 years ago did this for almost fifteen years.. Ran outlaw, no sleep lots of driving. Now I work less than 50 hours a week at 5 days and make between 1900 and 2100 a week. Sleep in my bed 5 days a week. Ltl sucks lol. But it isn't for everyone. I was always able to change my sleep cycle and run on no sleep.

    Grouch and mjd4277 Thank this.

I'm struggling with the running overnight crap. It's so bad I considered going back over the road lol. (LTL regional)

I know the feeling. I'm pretty much solar powered myself, and would have a hard time nights.

Yeah dude if I get a Sunday start on extra guard I'm gone. I'm never going back to a schedule unless it's day time. I hate nights

    T.Rucker and Lonesome Thank this.
