I used to work for ProDrivers for the first year down here in Columbia SC. They placed me with a flooring company delivery driver position which I filled for a full year.

Short answer to your question is NEVER. LTL will run in house as much as possible and if needed, hire third party independent contractors or interline carriers. But I've never heard of them using a temp agency.

    Gentleman (and possibly ladies),

I've been under the radar for the past few months and I feel bad about neglecting all of you. There is a ton of awesome discussion going on and I just don't have the time to be as interactive as I used to be.

About four months ago I've came to the conclusion that my life wasn't hard enough. So I accepted a position on my weekends to work at Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens. It's a world renowned zoo and I got my foot in the door due to my transportation and medical experience.

I serve as a tram driver and backup medic/translator. The pay is absolute garbage. I think it's $9.45/hour, which I donate back to the Zoo.

Anyway, so I am doing this gig for another three weeks and then I will quit. Wife is pissed about me working 7 days a week and has asked me to take a break.

I hope all of you guys are doing well and I hope to start being more interactive once my gig is up.

We’ve used temps before, and they are the absolute stupidest so-called “drivers” I’ve ever seen.

Been doing P&D for about 5 years now. Got a nice route. 930-630. Thinking of giving it up for a system linehaul position. I would do system for two reasons, one is I live almost an hour away from work so it’ll just be easier to stay out all week. Second is because system guys start their week on Sunday night instead of Monday night.

I’m not too concerned about the hours. I worked midnights before I started driving. I think the only thing really holding me back is the winter driving here in the Midwest. Probably over thinking it, but it’s definitely easier to drive in the winter in the city vs road. But that instant 40-50k a year raise is very tempting. Any advice?

Your linehaul drivers make that much more than your city drivers?

With me only working 43ish hours it would be. Compared to 2800-3000 miles a week linehaul.

Never mind. They’re not willing to add a system position. Made my decision easy lol

If I had a nice P&D route from 0930-1830, I’d never give it up.
