With Covid making a terrible turn, I am not getting in your nasty loaner. That is not a service failure, that is playing it safe.
Issue with my company, will this count as a service failure?

It's not the shop who dirtied up the truck. Come closer, I'll whisper.....it's your fellow drivers ! ! Some big co's have a cleaning service to tidy up rotated trucks. I'll bet they used your truck (as a loaner) while you were on Vacation. Terminal mgmt has more pressing issues that cleaning up trucks. And shop personnel WORK on trucks, not clean them. That's the way it is.

Never heard of it being called a service failure. That's new to me. I guess the boss calling me and screaming isn't sufficient for these bigger companies anymore. -
Speed_Drums, spindrift and austinmike Thank this.

No a service failure is internal , it's mostly a mega carrier thing . It's used mostly as a threat or paper trail way to get blame put on the driver alone . When I first started at a mega I got several sometimes for loads that were given to me late and I had no control over . I just shrugged it off . Don't worry and it's a mega if you have to start screaming , shouting to get things right that's ok it's a mega that's the only language they speak . Most people don't stay beyond 3 months so no that service failure won't follow you an inch.

Service failure is meaningless, as far as job hunting; however, a service failure is unprofessional.... if the loaner is dirty, clean it up and keep truckin' that's all you gotta do
