Now I’m not sure 100% what your starting rate would be but I believe it will be $.59 per mile. As long as you’re available for dispatch 24 days in a month, have no service failures or accidents, you’re paid a minimum of 9900 miles per month. Anything over 9900 miles pays an additional $.40 per mile. All miles driven pay five cent per month Safety bonus.
I do mainly oversize freight which has a lot of the ways especially at the size I do. But I’ve hit over 9900 miles for our last five months, and one of the guys in my group turned in 17,000 miles a couple months ago(he delivered a 3600 mile load on the 1st). Now that’s obviously an exception, but for the person that does mostly legal freight or small Oversize loads can easily do 12 to 13,000 miles a month here.
144k miles= $95k
132k miles= $83kVery Metal, motocross25 and Lonesome Thank this. -
Ill throw in my $0.02, I was with Kiv I for 2 years, now with SPD since April 2021, I have enjoyed SPD a lot. Kivi lost me due to their percentage pay. Too much deadhead(zero compensation no matter the miles) and sitting always negated decent paying loads. I was on the Alaskan crew and you actually would lose due to the fact that Kivi I would not even try to get you loaded outbound, usually deadhead you out 3,000 miles for a heavy ### lumber load in Alberta or Saskatchwan, drop in MN for peanuts.
Kivi flat out uses and abuses drivers to cover their direct customer base. Deliver a load anywhere in California and your deadhead to Santa Maria for Okonite loads.
Long story short, they refuse to show drivers the Ratecons for loads. As a Professional Driver. I question the ethics in that.
As a current SPD driver I run 3-4 weeks out 5 days home and repeat, and the way base pay goes, it averages out to be $12,000 more a year than what i was making at Kivi Add extra accessorial pay too the mix on top of base pay. I like a balance in life, no debt except the mortgage and can do well making $85,000 a year.Last edited: Aug 26, 2021

Wow @supersnackbar thanks for livening up the thread lol.
Well based on what the two drivers above said I’d recommend SPD…seriously if you’re thinking about Kivi I’d make sure recruiting put you directly in touch with HR so you can go over health insurance. Because my wife provides ours I’m not as up to date on it and I know you and the Mrs have some definite requirements.
I fully acknowledge I’m spoiled at Kivi, been here 3 plus years now have a decent pay percentage and two weeks paid vacation. I also admit I focus more on my weekly paycheck being what I need, I don’t personally give a rats arse about deadheading their truck burning their fuel…
I’m about $12k less than the $85k at SPD, I also take off 4 weeks per year plus my monthly hometime so for me it works. Though I admit I’m getting tired of so much yellow on my deck, it’s still working out to get me by the house and keep the bank account right. And then there’s not having to tarp every week like some places…I mean I like the occasional workout but hey I am a lazy truckerVery Metal, kylefitzy and Lonesome Thank this. -
There are a couple of things I like about Kivi better than other flatbed companies...nice looking equipment and not as many loads that require tarps. Plus they will get you up to speed on securement since my flatbed experience is predominantly hauling glass, chickens, or the forklifts that loaded the chicken cages full of chickens.Very Metal, kylefitzy, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
If Snackbar goes to work there and experiences anything like very metal did your positive influence on your thread will go down hill in a hurry.
Winnyf1 Thanks this. -
Hey if SPD pays that strong it may be a better fit, I personally don’t like Danske, I dealt with them in my corporate days and I really don’t like their management style. Maybe SPD is being left alone because Central Oregon is a good company and they don’t want to loose all of their drivers to them.
I’m sure snackbar would have a much more entertaining port rants than I present lol.Lonesome Thanks this. -
No doubt about that! I’ve followed his thread over the last 4-5 jobs and everything seems to turn to @&$? In about 3 mo. If everything isn’t perfect to his standards he’ll be whining again.
drvrtech77 and Winnyf1 Thank this.
