Hell yeah it's a question lol......I do have kids and I do have a family. I get all of that. I guess to me, a day off is a day off. Don't really matter which day it is. I only asked because for some folks that may be the only option to get a local job, so if sleeping in your own bed nightly, and the pay is good enough, it seems like a small sacrifice in my mind. Like I said in my previous post, people have their reasons for wanting weekends off. Everyone is different.

Also had former coworkers go to different food service companies to be home more and they got wore out quick. Even my childhood friend quit Labatt foods where he had great health insurance for his family. Cause it was too hard on him after 4 yrs. I dont think food service is a career job. Does anyone make it 10 plus years without arthritis?
Use to have a milk route yrs ago in a truck without a lift gate. I lasted 8 months. But my shoulders and legs were as hard as granite.Trucker61016, bzinger and jmz Thank this. -

Amid reports of a restaurant industry “labor shortage,” employees say all they really want are wages that makes the risk worth it.
Sound familiar?Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
Driver shortage isn't that bad, it's warehouse guys can't keep up with picking routes on time.

I've done food for almost 3 years now and US foods is so much better than Sysco. I think Sysco likes to fill the trucks as full as possible and say good luck screw the customer.
Taking home almost 3k a week is nice here too.Trucker61016 and LPjunior1970 Thank this. -
It’s too bad they can’t palletize each stop similar to what Coke and Pepsi are doing so you can at least get the bulk of the order through the door in one or two trips then break it down in the account if needed.
I’d probably still be at coke wheelin a hand cart if they didn’t freeze our pension. I miss some of the guys and customers I worked with all those years but I don’t miss that work.Trucker61016, Radman and Cardfan89 Thank this. -
If every stop was palletised it would be more work for the warehouse to even bother picking - assuming they combined C/D and still kept frozen by itself. But there's a lot of customers that order 20-50 cases and I cannot see for the life of me filling a truck up with about 7 stops worth of pallets where a fair few of them might be only knee high.
Or they could require every customer to have like a 100+ case order which is a loss of business. Can't win - dumb freezer. I am so sick of in the morning having to go through the side door steps to get my freezer cases.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
