I mean you can make it in Schneider tanker division. It opens a lot of doors. You’re just not gonna make a whole lot of money
Learning on Automatic, will this short change my possibilities?

Prime isn't good for anything.
JrzyDave and Speed_Drums Thank this. -
I would suggest Boyd brothers out of Alabama. They are a flatbed company. Idk if that interest you. But they take both auto and manual drivers. I start with them the 13th and they have paid orientation as well
JrzyDave Thanks this. -
I've had 4 driving jobs since 2016 and all companies had automatic trucks.
If my current company decided to get rid of autos, I would have no trouble leaving and stepping into another all auto company. Not because I have a restricted license, but simply because I prefer autos.
Unless you particularly want to work for a small mom and pop outfit, you will have no trouble getting a job and making good money driving an auto. -
Back when I got my CDL A, I already had a B with no auto restriction (I got my B in a manual tranny truck). I tested for my A in an automatic, but asked to retain my ability to drive manual that I had on my B. It took a call to the main office at the state level, but they approved this. I might have told them I still had a second job driving a B vehicle with a manual or something like that, and could not afford to lose my ability to drive a manual. One cannot have both a A & B license, so I'm good for manual on both.
So, if onf has access to a manual Class B vehicle, they could test out and get a B prior to A and keep the manual, at least if they can convince the DMV like I did.
Hope this helps someone.JrzyDave and born&raisedintheusa Thank this. -

I am a second year driver, who will make six figures this calendar year. I have an automated transmission restriction. That restriction isn’t going to hinder your career. Most companies are going to automated fleets.
Number5, JrzyDave, Hazmat Cat and 1 other person Thank this. -
JrzyDave Thanks this.

If ya want flat bed TMC seems to be an ok company bu a few folks i know that drive there. They are all auto also
JrzyDave Thanks this. -
Having the auto restriction screwed me out of a dump truck job a while back.
Try to avoid it but it’s not the end of the world.
Even a lot of small outfits are getting auto shifts, hell there’s a heavy haul division that runs only auto shift Volvo trucks.
but short and sweet yeah there’s a chance it could keep you from getting a sweet niche gigJrzyDave Thanks this.
