Best thing about it is that UPS won’t make you try to come to work there.
When UPS drivers are making $50 something an hour ten years from now and many other driving jobs are still paying $25-$30, who will have been slapped in the face? Delayed gratification is what someone needs the ability to do if they want top pay long term.

I here you man and as of most recently, I'd discovered the UPS Brown Cafe Forum. Aside from what you've mentioned along with everyone else, UPS offers a pension plan with a non matching 401K because of the union. On the surface that seems great; but pension plans are not what they used to be 50yrs. ago. Case in point, Fed Ex had most recently taken away their pension plan within this past year and who's to say that can't happen at UPS. Plus without revealing my age, I don't think that a pension plan would benefit me at much as a matching 401k.

Finally, on a personal note, too many people from the Brown Cafe Forum are a bunch of trolling jerks, which may or may not be representative of the company environment.

i honestly could careless what other ups drivers on hear have to say about my post everyone is entitled to their opinions. the fact ups here in canada is always hiring my first thought is why. If ups is the greatest thing since bread as some on here think why is there ads all the time looking for feeder drivers and it’s always the same two hubs hiring . just makes you wonder that’s all . the company i work for never hires for local drivers only otr. i would love to make $40 a hr but right now i need those same pay checks every two weeks

top rates 40$+ an hour. 120k + a year potential
if you want to know the truth. you will have the most monotonous, boring, unsatisfying career.
its a dead end job you wont find one persons that cares about the place. everyone's there for the benefits and paycheck
everyone's tired and pissed off. anyone who's made it there has just learned to deal with it for their family or kids.
if you have no goals dreams or desires it's the perfect job for you
if you like following rules and being used and abused for a paycheck its also for you
you're guaranteed to be burnt out and depressed soon after you're hired. everyday calling in sick will cross your mind
12+ hours a day you'll be annoyed and you're fellow co workers aren't much for interaction because they just started hiring off the street
the union rewards compliance not performance so any "truck drivers" there have no life experience they've been former trailer loaders/package boys the previous 30+ years of their life the highest seniority drivers don't even know how to drive because the only training they get is to be a mindless ups robot and no1 has ever showed them any different "by the way ups is heavily invest in giving your job to driver-less AI"
you'll probably crash at some point because you'll be stuck in a routine and too tired, bored,or unmotivated to pay attention. probably all the above
you're biggest hope is you get a good long route where you don't see anyone and management leaves you alone
so you better have a good home life or something out of work. you might get one day when you're not too tired to attend to it
by the time you get a chance for a daytime route or anything decent you'll have figured all this out
no the pay is not enough to make you care. no you're not any different. unless you're doing it for you're kids and home-time it wont work. the only positive is the first line of the post.
this is the ups feeder driver reality.

The Parable of the Bags of Gold
14 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag,a]">[a] each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17 So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18 But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’

21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’

23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

24 “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’

26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

28 “‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. 29 For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

it's the same at most jobs, but UPS feeders is not the coveted place people make it out to be.
rather then the endless how great the pay and benefits are hopefully this can help drivers make a better decision or at least understand what they're actually getting into.
