Got a call from a driver recruiter yesterday. Driver jobs have finally opened up at Midway Tennessee.

I am considering all my options but will probably not apply. With just over a year left until I retire I don’t want to deal with seniority driven shifts and the health and safety issues of sharing a truck with 3 or 4 other drivers that I don’t know. Slip seating is bad enough, I am not slip seating mattresses!

Ten years ago I would have applied but at 68 I think I will graciously say no.

In a related note....this is why i don't stay in hotels any longer....after I found out they don't throw away the mattresses after each visitor stays in a room.

Did you seriously think that hotels throw away mattresses after each visitor?? I've never heard of anyone being that naive. Seriously did you think about the cost and the disposal fees that would be associated with that? Rooms would have to start at $500 a night minimum and that's not realistic. It's obvious you don't travel other than in your truck.

I definitely missed that but the poster didn't respond either. Nothing would surprise me though with what many people expect.

Actually I’ve stayed at hotels that do keep the mattresses, but in fact tear down the hotel and rebuild every day…as cleaning would be cost prohibitive.

Also, the military called. They’d like to discuss your fear of sleeping on used mattresses…
