Idk if it’s just my area but locally I can point to about 4-5 companies in my area that are home every night and will get you over 100k working just a 5 day work week. Couldn’t tell you about otr or regional jobs because since I’ve went local.. I’m not going back. But the market for drivers at the moment is white hot.

meechyaboy where are you at and what do you haul? do those places take new drivers?
-
Southeast Michigan and I’m currently hauling fuel. Not all of the companies are fuel gigs but a couple do take new drivers.
I don’t work for them but kenan really needs drivers up here they’re hiring what they can get their hands on at 28 an hour. With a dollar premium to work nights doing nothing but sams clubs, Costco’s and ta’s. If you pick up their weekend warrior which is just working every weekend they bump you up to 32. Was told if you join their Kroger only account you jump to 34.
I had a sit down with the terminal manager of old dominion up here a while back and they run to Canada and back. They work out to a 8-10 hour day doing linehaul. Estes and R+L work out to about the same.
Goldenfan Thanks this. -
If thats is your goal go find that kind of driving position BEFORE you go to CDL school. Many driving positions only leave you time to sleep between time spent driving.TravR1 Thanks this.

Man. I wish I was somewhere else besides S. FL and we were planning to be. I've applied for every position advertised between here in Orlando and they simply will not hire someone with a CDL, Clean DMV and only 2 months experience. Other than food service which i'm not doing I can't get anything local. This must be the worst place in the country to try to get a local gig. We are moving in May, either back to N. Central FL or N, Idaho, Utah or Montana. Maybe I'll have better luck getting a position up there. Bummer.

Plenty of local jobs in Indy.

I’m sure.

We have a guy training that got his Cdl 2 years ago, no driving experience in between or after he got it… English isn’t his main language so there’s a English barrier… But theres some major polish that needs to be applied before there’s a thought of this guy hitting the road solo.

I’ve often thought I wasn’t getting interviews because I’m the dreaded white American male in a society that openly demonizes that demographic.

@ztrill1
Read this thread. Maybe something like these jobs in your area so you can be home often and have time to study motorcycle mechanics.
