Covertly tracking.....that right there would make me quit on the spot WITHOUT a 2 weeks notice the second i find a new job and would likely talk to a lawyer and make sure to leave a post here about it at a minimum. Im fine if you want to track your load or truck if you TELL me about it. Hell i even understand. Trucks are upto a quarter million bucks and cargos are basically anything upto millions of dollars maybe 10s of millions. But you gotta TELL me.
Otherwise #### that. Honestly to me though it sounds like your trying to screw some drivers.

For some reason l, it won’t let me quote, but for the one who said, “You can’t track someone without their consent.”
Yes, Yes you can, theirs ways, legal ways, same as photographing someone without consent, you see weren’t really taking their photo, but the landscape behind them, they just happened to be there.
I’d say to OP, use something like TruckingOffice, and their elog, when you send dispatch they’ll get it and you can track their elog on phone/tablet to their location.
See, your not tracking them, your tracking the truck/load.feldsforever and Speed_Drums Thank this. -
Tracking an individual is a whole slew of legal issues and varies by state.feldsforever, ProfessionalNoticer and Last Call Thank this. -

If I still had multiple trucks I would
Absolutely have a tracker in the truck so I could find out where it was at , was it
Moving ,
How fast etc.
No need to be secretive about it though.
Friend of mine is issued a iPad by his employer , and he keeps it in a pressure cooker, (only thing he’s found that will block the signal totally) when he’s not using it.GYPSY65 and feldsforever Thank this. -
Don't track your driver with out there knowledge. That's deceitful and we would have issues if I found out. What my old boss used to say is. Some loads require a phone tracking app. Either use it or move on.
I hate being tracked still do. But buying another phone is easier than hiring another driver.Snailexpress and GYPSY65 Thank this.
