He went over at the scenic overlook. CDOT just reworked that area last year with new barriers, and I heard that was because it had become a popular place to commit suicide by driving over the cliff. There's a runaway ramp just above that spot. Sad.

That drone footage did an awesome job capturing the results from the crash!!! I've said it in another thread, some of these drivers need some better training about traveling these mountains. I think drivers not knowing how to drive these mountains is biggest reason as to why these crashes happen. I went to school in Murfreesboro, TN. We actually spent time on mountain driving. We even got in the truck and got practice going up and down Monteagle Mountain. Granted, Monteagle is a piece of cake compared to Wolf Creek Pass, but the idea was to give some idea about mountain driving and that helped me tremendously. For places where that can't necessarily be practiced, there has to be a lesson on it or something.

Why does a guy go right instead of left like the road. And to be ejected..... doesn't look like a survivable crash with a seat belt.

And if Rifat would have been able to read all the warning signs, which is supposed to be a DOT requirement, he'd probably still be alive.Digger130, stwik, NavigatorWife and 5 others Thank this. -
