thanks! Basics: I’m trying to find a decent rookie job fresh outta CDL school for myself. Prefer to not spend too much time with strangers for training OTR, planning on teaming with my husband in the close future (he will be a rookie outta CDL school as well). Prefer to not slip seat, hopefully be able to take the truck home for weekend/reset. Able to bring a pet at some point.. not sure of realistic starting pay, I’m planning on HAZMAT and tanker endorsements, probably flatbed too. Not sure if you only drive dry van for your first year or if you can move into a tanker or something a few months in..
Is any of this fit into what Pride does? Do they do runs to/from newport, OR or the surrounding area?

That's standard. It's worth it if you are married and driving with your husband.

You would probably get between 6000-8000 miles a week.

So say you did 7000 miles 1 week...

7000×0.335 = $2345.00 for that week for 1 person. Between the two of you combined that's $4690.00 for that week.

You will probably have to go out with a trainer no matter which company you choose to go with. Pride has a lot of husband and wife teams and a whole lot of pets riding a long. No slip seating, and most take their trucks home a lot of the time. I only live 30 miles from Pride and used to take my truck home all the time. As far as your 34, that is something you would work out with your DM. Pride also just increased driver wages.
No flatbed or hazmat here, we do mostly reefer.
Anymore questions, please feel free to ask

You can ask for a female trainer too…that’s something to keep in mind…

If you’re near a large city in the PNW like Portland, you have endless opportunities. Right now you can come directly out of school and make over $100k/yr.

May Trucking is a decent outfit to start with. They’re out of Brooks (Salem area). You can solo out with them in a couple of weeks if you’re sharp and catch onto things quickly. And, you can team with your husband.

Also, they don’t micro manage NEARLY as much as most of the megas. There are no nanny gadgets, cameras, idle gadgets, etc...

The down side to May is they’re lower on the pay (or they were anyway) and their terminals look more like homeless shelters.
