The only thing I can think of is the clutch brake. Stopping the trans, getting it in the slot, then it goes fully into gear when the clutch is released. Other than a medium duty truck with a synchronized 6 speed my mind is blown
Downshifting without revving up the engine?

Unless there’s a video of it I’m going to call bs or Ed is a magician.
Just no way to downshift unless rpm’s are raised either by your foot or by double clutching. Even then with double clutching I don’t see it done without rpm matching.kuzima93, Geekonthestreet, expedite_it and 6 others Thank this. -
As mentioned. The only way possible would be to go neutral and brake till the speed matches engine.
But what would be the point? No jake efficiency doing it that way. Might as well just brake in neutral.
Ed is going to have to post a YouTube for the people to see.D.Tibbitt, LoneRanger, Bean Jr. and 2 others Thank this. -

You all should wonder …
why does the truck have a new transmission.Geekonthestreet, Chieftains, Eldiablo and 10 others Thank this. -

1: Slow the truck down until transmission gear speed matches flywheel speed. The uneconomical way
2: Increase the flywheel speed to match the transmission gear speed. The way most of us drive
3: Slam it into gear and break ####. The way Swift drove when they had manual transmissions
Any other way simply won't work. If it did, every automated manual manufacturer would have it programmed into the systems to do it.Geekonthestreet, D.Tibbitt, God prefers Diesels and 1 other person Thank this. -
why is Ed lugging the engine before downshifting?
Geekonthestreet and God prefers Diesels Thank this.
