Way to go on ham. Always preferred the ascend of the hog to the shoulder pork and ham (Spam).

Lumper fee was $0.00172 per carrot. The worst part about the delivery by was the count. It took them about 11 hours to get the count straight. I think they lost count in the middle of the first go round so had to restart.

@Dave_in_AZ I got an electrical question...

So ive been thinlimg about my future shop. It will require 3-Phase electrical service to power some machine tools (mill and lathe). From my understanding, if one has 3-Phase power one can pull Single-Phase power from that to power regular electrical item.

My question is, is it possible to have 3-Phase service into the Shop and pull a single-Phase line from the Shop to supply power to the house? This way I only have one meter and one electric bill. How difficult is this to do???

Oohhh. In my area that would be a big fat no. Lol. They have different rates for service and want to charge the most they can. Lolol.

Also probably want to charge you for cost of bringing the 3 phase from its now available point down/up/across to your need point.
In Tupelo, city had a nice add on to bring it a few blocks when Clark Equipment moved in to a new building. And all we had on 3 was an air compressor.

Wait. They counted every carrot? Didn't just weigh it and move on?

Yes it is possible. Not very difficult.

The only place you may get hung up is if you're utility company will allow the shop to count as the metered structure or dwelling.

3 phase is primarily for commercial purposes.

So I'd start with your utility company and go from there, or ask a local electrical contractor, cause every place has their own little set of local rules.

If you're not going to use the shop a whole lot, they make phase converters.
That will turn single phase into 3 phase. They are horribly inefficient though, and will suck a ton of power.

3 phase primary would be best. Than you just sub feed the house panel with 2 hots.

Not probably. Cattleman84 will pay for the service to wherever the nearest connection point is.

Yeah ive looked at the phase converters and I really dont like the idea of my power bill going sky high after a long weekend at the lathe or mill.

Thank you for the info, I know a good electrician that I'll give a call when I get closer... He's done alot of work on commercial worksites I've been on in the past.
