I might still need to buy something else... -
The older Freightliner didn't come with a fridge but you could buy one from the company and pay it out, all the new ones have them in there. The 21qt freezer I have is an Alpicool brand and the bigger one is an Euhomy brand both from Amazon
Rocks Thanks this. -
I visited their terminal in Lenoir City, TN today.. Spent 6 hrs chatting with some nice drivers and a trainer...
Then a couple took me to their truck, a Kenworth and showed me inside...
I will go back there tomorrow and talk with folks in the office and get some more info...
Didn't make my mind yet... and taking my time.
Their pay seems to be pretty good and I like their variety of accounts but there are several things that I don't like... and not sure I will be able to "adapt"...
Opt-idle is one of the things I don't like... One driver said that it has happened to him that engine stopped while he was waiting for the green light....he said the way to deal with that is to pull the trailer brake out (red knob) and that will prevent the engine from stopping... has that ever happened to you guys?
Other thing I don't like is the route solution... can't fill up the tank as you wish?
Other thing is they use the hair for the drug test... I don't want to have my hair cut... I am a female with very long hair all the way to my hip and no way I will have any portion of my hair cut close to the scalp for a test... if they can't use only the urine, so I am not going there.
Recruiter said that I will need to go with a trainer for 2 weeks because I have been out of the truck for 2 yrs... Which is kinda ok...
However, I need to know if after training, they will get me a truck in my home terminal so that I don't have to get it somewhere else and then start working and driving around for days until I can get my stuff... that would not work for me.
I have a special unique diet, cook in the truck and it will be already difficult for me to avoid some of that during my training...
So, if I have to move into a truck somewhere other than my home terminal, and then drive around for days before getting all my stuff.... that will not work.
I see not all their trucks have the same "safety system" inside... Some have only On Gard thing and others (Kenworth) have more stuff like sensors on the side of their doors that will detect vehicles on the "blind spot" and will send flashes on the sides of the windshield and will make noises if one is fixing to change lanes...
And drivers told me about truck sometimes seems to brake some or hold some when it senses something like a shade in front or something similar... they said it's "weird" and it will scare the "crap" out of you...
They said there are no cameras in the trucks... I thought recruiter had said they do have cameras... Or they will put cameras if driver has an incident or loses points...
Recruiter said that I can pick whatever account I want and move into it right after my training.... Really? I need to make sure that's how it works... Who should I ask?
He also said I get one day off for every week I am on the road... So, if I stay 12 weeks on the road, I can get at least 7 days off... I want to make sure I can get that if I am on a dedicated account instead of over the road.
Would like to ask these questions to an asset manager... if I can talk to one at the terminal tomorrow... -
Rocks Thanks this.

Now everything has changed n to be honest, if I could I would not go back trucking but if I am going to go back trucking I want to find the "best" match.Last edited: Nov 10, 2021
