I have to believe its way way more than that . They mint nearly half a million new cdls every year
I bet there are at least a million idle clds that guys never bothered to get rid of
Once the money is right or times get tough, they will flood the market and this nice little boom will end and they cycle will continue

    Badmon and Rideandrepair Thank this.

I don’t think that’s gonna happen unless the trucking companies double the money anyone with a CDL that doesn’t use it anymore , won’t come back to driving if they have any other marketable skills .

I have a CDL and won’t use it to get paid peanuts and treated like dog poop.

72k is nothing to laugh at & comparing it to other industry being that it's 2% of the of the American Trucking Industry its not bad. It makes me wonder if they ever had drug testing locally here in Canada how much it would be? I think around 15% out of the 300k drivers possibly.

We may be coming up on that for some.
Five years ago I was making 32 cpm and I felt it was not enough. Lately I have seen several big companies advertising 65 cpm for similar dedicated work.
I know trucking pay has not doubled in general but it has gone up substantially
I usually only work a few months out of the year, but money motivates me enough that I might skip my winter vacation

More or less. Anyone working in the safety sensitive function on the federal level is subject to drug screening. That includes flight crews and airport personnel! The clearinghouse is doing what it’s supposed to do and weeding out(no pun intended) the bad drivers.

And hookers… can’t forget them. They need love, too.

    I wouldn’t drive for 65 cpm and work 70 hours and 7 days a week .
    I’m old and spoiled I guess .

I get tired of working 40 hours a week .
