I wish. I won’t have access to a truck for practice as the trainers are heading out for a break before the next class starts. And if I want a paycheck I need to work the dock as I did before this class started. I was looking forward to get with my road trainer to really start learning real life driving and delivery.

I feel pretty good about the basic driving skills for the test. I will spend considerable time mentally replaying the intersection situations and what if this or that was different what would be my plan. Especially those tight right hand turns!

Don’t beat yourself up over it! Most of us have run over a curb or two in our careers. You probably won’t make that same mistake twice as you will remember that curb that put your driving career on hold for a week. Get the Big a picture driver. Good luck in your retest.

When my son failed his drivers test. I went and followed the test proctors to learn the trail that they drive for the test then had him spend the time re driving it for the two weeks he had to wait.

    The continuing saga…

Received notice that my drive re-test will be on Wed 12/8.

I plan to drive out to that intersection and just watch how trucks are navigating that corner. The right hand turn is not a right angle but angles back another 20* or so.

In the mean time it is back to the forklift and unloading and loading trailers on the dock. I was never fully trained on the dock because I am suppose to be a truck driver. But I did 5 weeks before training and now another three weeks. Fortunately the other dock workers are very patient and helpful as I work at a much less efficient pace than them. And I have much less idea how to untangle some of the freight situations. Ditto takes me a while to extract heavy, tilted, broken pallets stacked too high. Or that are heavy and bulky without means to gets forks underneath. Slowing learning a bit more.

I hear another student after me also failed the drive test. The guys on the dock were very encouraging. Ran into a driver doing some dock OT and he said hang in there I had to try four times. Other guys were very supportive of my efforts to drive. Great bunch of guys and gals. But I really want to be driving so looking forward to Dec 8!

Don't worry about it. If it were possible to die of shame I would have been a goner long, long ago. What intersection are we talking about? I'd be glad to do a drive by and tell you how I'd do it.

Thx! Southbound Alderwood turning right onto Columbia. When I tested, a car was in the left turn lane (from Columbia to NB Alderwood) about 8 ft beyond the stop line.

Did you call out the obstruction to your turn to the tester?? Maybe that would have helped? That'd be similar to you having to swerve into another lane all the sudden because a deer ran out in front of you. I wouldnt think the tester could fault you for that.
