Got a careless driving ticket in Kentucky, any lawyer recommendations for this?

Careless driving in Kentucky isn't as bad as it sounds. That's their catch-all charge for things like not using a turn signal or running a red light. It's less serious than a speeding ticket. Still, as a professional driver you should fight all tickets.

We, as drivers, DO have final say on the loads we will run - and how we run them.

 

If cop truly pulled you over in the name of safety and tickets you for careless due to being sleepy . Why did he let you go or not follow you to next safe spot to sleep. I’d fight the ticket even if I know I was tired which I try not to do btw .

 

So you had “White Line Fever”, I would’ve said to the LEO, I got slightly distracted watching my mirrors to see who was following me, and it was you(LEO), you cause me to slightly ride the white lines……

 

Minnesota tried that. Got slapped hard in court as there us no real way to actually test for fatigue.

 

the key to that ticket is going to be how your home state words it on your record. because ky words it as careless driving. wy mite word it as careless operations etc. this is whats going to count. best get a lawyer and have that changed

Yes we do if you are not able to operate the vehicle safely. You find the nearest safe place. I was in a situation in Oklahoma. Some motorists had called in on me because I was weaving. I wasn't sleeping I wasn't feeling well. I passed the first exit ramp because it said no parking. I went to the next one & said I'm not going any further. The state police came questioned me if it was me weaving. I said yes. Long story short he said glad you pulled over stay along as you need to.

 

And if you worked for me I'd fire you for parking on that ramp. As a matter of fact, Landstar is notorious for enforcing their "sitting duck" policy. Given all the BS policies Swift imposed on us when I was there I'm kinda surprised they didn't have that one.

BTW it's also illegal in many states.
