I was asked today or told today that upper management wants the yard and shuttle drivers to help start loading trailers due to the chronic labor shortage here in NE Wisconsin paper mills.
My answer was this , pay me fork lift wages and CDL A wages , who ever comes up with these anti driver schemes is to blame for the shortage.
My plate is full all day long.

Every job has b.s. as an employee you need to decide if you are being paid enough to deal with the b.s. you’re dealing with.

    if you are…stay

    if you are not…leave

there is a help wanted sign in from of every business right now, the ball is in your court. Don’t cry, stand up get want you want or move on.

The only reason they do that is because they think they can get away with it. You've got two choices: quit or form a united front with the other drivers. Tell management it's not going to happen. They'll rethink the policy if they're faced with no drivers AND no one to load their trucks. Once they get you to bend the knee it's only a matter of time before they want you to bend at the hip. I'd tell you what comes after that, but this is supposed to be a family friendly place.

I think your answer was correct. You would be doing two jobs for the price of one. Companies will do that all day if they can get away with it.
