Atlanta is my least favorite city to drive besides through Chicago. Simply because whenever I am driving around 285 their is either always a wreck or serious traffic.

I’ll never forget the YouTube trucker Red Viking. He was in LA in the middle of the night. Said: This is like Atlanta in the middle of the day.
Trucker61016, smokey12 and tscottme Thank this. -

I hope the OP made it… they haven’t reported in!! Atlanta can eat you alive if you don’t pay attention.
I was sitting at the light on Southside Industrial Pky at Browns Mill Rd yesterday morning. An Atlanta motorcycle cop pulled up next to me. I had my window down. He told me to have a safe day. I told him to have one too. He said my job, with the way cars drive is more dangerous than his. I told him at least I had a lot of metal and fiberglass around me, he was out there exposed on his Bike. He wished me a good safe Holiday and when the light turned green he rode on. I went on to the MADNESS of the South Cargo area at the Airport….
Always nice to have a pleasant exchange with an officer.Trucker61016, Kyle G., smokey12 and 1 other person Thank this. -
If you stay at the petro on hollowell, one of the best strip clubs in America is next door. Highly recommend going there

My routes the past 2 years include Atlanta, Nashville Memphis and Chattanooga. They all suck. Memphis is the easiest unless you have a load over 13-6. Those low bridges will soil your shorts in no time. I avoid Nashville and Chattanooga unless it is between 10pm and 4 am. Atlanta is kinda the same. Almost always I have had 2-3 hour delays with the first two but Atlanta seems to have its fair share of screw your last 3 hours of driving. I always try to hit any of the three with a fresh clock and in the middle of the night. On my way down to Florida I usually can make it near Birmingham with great stops in Hamilton, Jasper, Moody and Lincoln. If real lucky I make it to Waco but the stars seldom align for that. I am finding some of the smaller independent stops are actually nicer than Petro, Pilot or TA. Loves is 50-50 lately.
If I cannot hit Atlanta before or after traffic I go south usually taking the 82 from Tifton to Montgomery. The down side is it is one lane and farmers do move their tractors at 20 MPH for what seems like 100 miles of traffic. Still it is less stressful than bumper to bumper traffic with 4 wheelers merging in and out getting no where. I got to drive farm equipment for a bit and like the old US Highways more. Fewer places to park or take a quick 5 minute stop and drop but a lot less stressful. Some good old country and pretend I am an Outlaw from the 60 and 70s.Speed_Drums Thanks this.
