My company has 100 owner operators with their own plates and IFTA accounts; I only do our company fuel taxes for a dozen company units. IFTA has nothing to do with authority and you do need 'it' when not under lease/dispatch

I’m leased onto my friend’s authority from a different state and get my plate through him to avoid paying sales tax on equipment purchases where I live.

Your welcome. Most times when guys get base plates from a company, it's because they don't have the funds to acquire tags on their own Most times when guys get base plates from a company, it's because they don't have the funds to acquire tags on their own.

If I had my own authority or was leased to a carrier based in this state I would qualify for their sales tax exemption, so I figure if they don’t need it from a lot of other people then they won’t miss mine.

    Find out where they’re paying
They might be eliminating someplace like Oregon?
Then get a quote for the same areas

It should be really close if not exact
Even a few hundred more might be worth the freedom?

IRP is all states now. You can't save money by eliminating a state.

Thats not bad. If you run a lot of miles, it is a great deal. If you don't run to many miles probably not so much.
