Dear truckers,
What is the most boring landscape you have driven?
For me in a car it is US-40 between Tucumcari New Mexico to Eastern Oklahoma (where the Ozarks start). Probably a thousand miles of the exact landscape, flat, cow pasture or field, nothing changes until one drives through Amarillo or Ok City, just nothingness.
I remember signs in Texas saying “DUI, you cannot afford it.” More or less saying, we realize this long expanse of nothing can drive someone to drink, but don’t do it.
I would probably say that all the Great Plains is like this. Just monotony of countryside.
I am from Mississippi and know that HWY 55 is boring there with pine trees on the side of the roadway which blocks the scenery, but that is only 200 miles and not a thousand like my example above.
So what countryside makes one want to drink?
The most boring landscape of all.

Me personally I'd take the wide open " boring land" over the 6 lane death shows that goes on in the big cities everyday... everytime I get east of i35, I notice I get more fatigued from driving because the further east u go, that wide open land disappears. There comes a point you can never escape the traffic and it drives me insane.

Drove down through N. Dakota, S. Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas. It was beyond boring.

Maybe not the most boring I have ever had, but certainly the most tedious every time, is I-10 through Texas.
880 miles of nothing with a few somethings now and then.
But just counting those 880 miles...Sirscrapntruckalot, 86scotty, Shackdaddy and 5 others Thank this. -
I-25 south of Pueblo, Colorado to Trinidad is purty darned bleak in my opinion.
striker, Sirscrapntruckalot, Plantfoam and 2 others Thank this. -
If you’re bored come out west and come play in my backyard.
The road up Eisenhower is full of excitement on a daily basis.Dadetrucking305, CorsairFanboy, striker and 10 others Thank this. -
I'd rather be bored in the middle of the desert than having to deal with traffic in more clusterf*ed stretches like I-80 east of Omaha
CorsairFanboy, MACK E-6, nredfor88 and 10 others Thank this. -
I actually enjoy most of the drives mentioned, never been on 10. Western Arkansas is home for me, and I'd just about rather take a kick in the crotch than go east on 40, or east of 29 and 49.
CorsairFanboy, Pamela1990, tscottme and 3 others Thank this. -
61 from Memphis to Natchez gives me the Blues. Back roads through Ohio, and anywhere in Texas.
Pamela1990, D.Tibbitt, nikmirbre and 1 other person Thank this.
