Or, you know, do the speed limit and avoid the ticket all together.

But that takes a level of intelligence you just don't possess, doesn't it Supah Twuckah!

Probably nothing specifically, besides too. Many trucks ending up in the trees. I take PA 31 from I-70 to Bedford quite a bit to avoid the construction and crashes around some of the tunnels. There are a few hill on that route with 14% grades. Same BS 20mph limit there, too.

It's also the same on US 6 coming out of Tunkhannock. Truck speed limit 25 and you'll have the idiots doing 45 or better. And it's mostly the plastic truck crew doing it with duck tape holding it together, and the megas. All the local trucks in the area know to do the speed limit through there

And God forbid something happens you'll get the book and more thrown at you

Even tho if your loaded light or empty you can still go safely faster than 25. There's other steeper hills on RT 6 that don't have restrictions. Probably way back when most trucks didn't have Jake's and they haven't changed it since. But that's still a big ticket if caught

Just like eastbound on homestake pass in butte MT. 25mph speed limit down the hill for all trucks 12000 or heavier. I run down the speed limit even empty or bobtail... can count on 1 hand how many trucks I ever saw actually doing the speed limit and I ran that mountain everyday... I always wondered what the ticket would be when 1 of those guys doing 60mph down the hill and get pulled over for it... 60 in a 25 ... I'd bet that's the end of your driving career. Is it really worth it?

Yes those signs "trucks must use low gear" put up by the department of transport are there for a reason,
drivers who often ignore these warnings do not consider what would happen if either their brakes failed or they lost air, sure a truck can be driven down a steep incline without slowing down, however the risk does not outweigh the potential outcome if anything happened to the brakes going down the mountain. The idea being to put the truck in a gear that will hold it without using any other assistance.
