Example for Slinky’s, some think they’re difficult.
I did the X on straps, but where I strapped different was the first and last one I tied straight down to the trailer and crossed it from bundle 1 to 2 2-3 3-4 4-5 6-7 8-9
    9-10.
So 8 straps (if they’d load from Gallatin TN you gotta tarp them)

Watched him, I don’t like to hook to rub rails, I’ll hook under the lip of the trailer.
MS will make you retie a load if straps are outside rubrail

You may also need to throw that extra strap if that load is not actually abutting that structure, being even a foot back gives it a foot of movement that it can build up momentum.

And agree, many times, the chained down lumber was my bulkhead, since we actually stored things in the bulkhead, we couldn't put the items right up against it.

Yep, D Tibbit points out exactly. Now, if you ever want to invest in it, the BIG Green book which has lengthy DOT explanations and how they interpret those regulations as they apply to the rules, is a very worthwhile investment, as it shows you what they are thinking and how they see the regs versus someone else, and it poses questions about variations and things you may not think about how to secure strange things, and they actually tell you how they apply the rules to or against certain types of securement or technique. :)
