    Lol.
Bummed out, and Major Depression, are not apples and apples, friend.

Also, if it comes to court, it will be the battle of the doctors, the medical experts.

And again,... I allowed opinions such as yours to keep me off the very effective and otherwise benign medications that make me a productive member of society for years. Never again.

If changing jobs “cured” you then you weren’t really depressed, you were simply unhappy. Part of the reason for the stigma surrounding mental health is because there is a whole generation of older people who were too embarrassed to seek help and instead “dealt with it”. I wish my uncle would’ve sought help instead of going out in the pasture and shooting himself, leaving my other uncle to find him when he went out later to check cattle. I’m glad that I’ve gotten the help I’ve needed over the years regardless of what people think of me. I struggle with my mental health regularly and have Zoom meetings when I have an appointment and can’t make it back.

I have a good friend from ODFL days that would take anti-depressant medications. I could tell when he wasn't taking them, as he would turn plain mean on people. I knew it was difficult for his wife, as they teamed - he'd admit eventually that he'd stopped taking them and would resume.

He is older - about 60 now, and is of the 'tough guy' generation that 'didn't need no stinking help'. Really good guy - help with anything, just needs balance in his brain chemistry.

Bingo, I don't mean to be insensitive, and I certainly wouldn't shoot myself, father time will take care of that soon enough, you're right, "I'll peddle through this", was the battle cry I inherited from my old man( and his old man). My kids have urged me to seek help for years, and it's not that I don't think therapy helps, I just have a huge problem paying ANY healthcare person what they charge. In retrospect, I should have sought help 20 years ago, coincidently when I quit driving. I'm an old man now, and what happens in the world doesn't affect me like a working person, I do indeed feel for this person, I fear it will get a lot worse before it gets better.
To be honest, it was trucking I was initially attracted to, because it was "I, me, mine", nobody bothered me. When technology hit, even trucking wasn't the answer, and quite frankly, I was devastated, and never recovered, but by then, I was close to retirement anyway, so I made do. So, a fine line between depressed and unhappy,,kind of go hand in hand.

Diabetics, asthmatics, and many others take medicine to "function in our society". Were you including yourself and your medications or just anyone else's medication?

Society is very messed up, and many people are working to keep it that way and make it worse.
