Poster with the photo has it right. The free end is a lot easier to throw than the end with the tail-chain and hook. Flat hooks like the ones in the photo aren’t heavy enough to pull the slack belt over the load no matter how hard you throw them, and tail-chains and hooks mark up wheels and beat your toolbox doors in if you’re not careful throwing them.

 

Just buy some cord and tie a nut to end and throw it over the load, then tie straps to end and pull straps over load and it will help you get load tied down much faster!

 

Don’t hook the strap before you toss it over. Try standing a back from the trailer a step or two more.

I thought it was kinda funny too.

I was shown a similar trick where you kinda use the strap as a catapult. I never got the hang of it.

I need to - my right shoulder is a bit of a mess, pretty sure the job has a lot to do with it.

 

It looks funny and the video is made dorky but it does work I have a messed up shoulder and it works for me

I use this method when I really need to launch a strap. I use the method from the other video for shorter distances, and when I need real precision, like if I'm throwing it between tight spaces. That other video is hilarious by the way.
