How do RGN trailers work?

All on aluminum ramps

    Screenshot_20220318-231127_Facebook.jpg found this gem searching for pics. Saw this guy running up the interstate and had to get a picture. So I blew his doors off in the left lane, hit a rest area and ran into the ditch to get the picture.

    If all you are worried about currently is getting your tractor home just drive it? I've driven tractors probably thousands of miles on highway, not all at one time of course.
    One time we had been doing a job about 50 miles south of sioux city. Got done late afternoon and I was driving our challenger tractor home, that tractor did 30ish mph. I stopped at a Casey's to grab some snacks and 1 tall boy of bud heavy. Quickest and easiest way home was through sioux city rather than taking the bypass. Last stop light on the north end of town had a red light camera. I thought how freaking funny would it be to get my picture taken by that camera in a tractor drinking a bud. Decided against that.
    Had a hired hand get pulled over for speeding in a 25mph zone in a small town in Nebraska once too


    I like talking equipment and now I feel like telling stories no one cares about.
    Backing that batwing mower up to the top deck of the trailer was always a fun challenge. I miss doing things like that.

    I would consider a landoll tilt deck or hydraulic dove tail. For years our local John Deere dealer had a hydraulic dove tail hauled two 4960 front wheel assist tractors at a time all the time. They usually have a hydraulic winch that is really handy say if you needed to recover a truck that does not move on it’s own. I mean if your gonna have your own it might as well be as versatile as possible if it doesn’t actually have a set purpose. A wet kit is usually needed but I have seen them self contained with a pony motor running a hydraulic pump. Which I would think be better for your needs

    I’d just wait the 2 weeks, but ask for a few more hats. One for everyone in the family, and a few neighbors. Maybe a free can of touch up paint.

    I agree. When you start loading small gauge equipment like mini excavators, D3, small tractors, skid steers etc. on an RGN you find that the frame on the RGN where you unhook is wider than your tracks/tires. You wind up having so start the load with blocks to get on the frame. This probably isn't making any sense to folks who have not used them, but a Landoll sliding axle or a folding ramp trailer like @wore out suggested would be much more convenient than an RGN for light equipment (under 50,000 lbs.)

    Pucker up when you look at the price though.

    Something like this would be a good solution in my opinion:

    For the limited use he would be using for, he wouldn't need a wet kit for his truck. I see units out there with the self powered hydraulics that use briggs and stratton engines on the trailer. In fact, a manual RGN would be cheaper no more than it would be used. There is a guy on YouTube that pulls a full manual RGN with an '84 Pete cabover who hauls fire trucks, skid steers and all sorts of equipment. (FSC trucking)

    But to answer the original question...there are a ton of videos on YouTube about connecting and disconnecting all sorts of RGN trailers.

    Cant say anything about Kaufman rgn but back in the days i had 4 car trailer of that brand and being only bit year ago that thing was literally falling apart ...real pos
