Fsc. Is my boss just a liar!?

    FSC is for contract rates. In order that you don’t have to renegotiate every time fuel prices change. Spot market “brokers” are negotiated rates. Your rate most likely changes for each “ala Cart” load acceptance. Sometimes you will see then put down fsc on paperwork but it usually is what you asked more than they offered or they just add one in there with out really being a fsc. If you were an O/O how do you not know this?? Your boss is most likely being truthful, since yes van and Reefer rates “nationally” went down when fuel went up one the last months. Landline now by OOIDA or DAT podcasts for further explanation on what going on right now. Other posters here that own a trucking company have already rogered and explained. The ones that are cheerleading I highly doubt they run a trucking company. I wouldn’t bad mouth your boss. He is more than likely having a rough time, possibly hardest time in trucking.

    If the op is 1099 why is he concerned with FSC? FSC has nothing to do with how a driver’s pay is calculated.
    If the op is willing to be paid on a 1099 he himself may well be a liar. Is he cheating on taxes? Probably.
    I hope he replies truthfully to set the record straight.

    Even some of mine get FSC, or I ask for a higher freight rate. This is on a 230 mile run.

    OP was listing brokers that he hauls for, an indication of spot market activity.
    You ask for the highest amount that you negotiate. You do not breakdown a fsc when negotiating one haul on spot market. Makes no sense. Waste of conversation. Do you have your own numbers?? If you are hauling for predetermined rate the reoccurring haul/lane a fsc is in place as you may in the settlement you showed if it’s a recurring customer. If you are just taking their assigned rate and what they call a fsc, that is on you! Remember the fsc you have in place is negotiated and written in your contract that you have both worked on for future loads. That’s your customer and your own shipping contract. Not what generally happens in the spot market. Yes you may see it in a settlement, CHR, coyote, or the one you shared, but it is explained in earlier post. Guys, this stuff is easy if you make the business your priority.

    Supposed to be give, FSC, spell check thinks it knows everything.
    That’s the rate to the truck.

    I did 1099 company driver for percent of load before, they have to back fsc out first. But i also got statements and the ratecons emailed to me on demand, never an issue. Transparency is important for trustbuilding

    Good explanation. I was leased on to my carriers, never dealt with the spot market.

    I regret being so harsh in the title of the post. After others showed he wasn't lying I actually wanted to delete the thread.

    We all get it. Everything is being negotiated including driver pay. I have just one lane I run and that involves a lot of deadhead. Average length of haul must be 1100-1200 miles, something like that. Obviously, there is more than cpm to consider.

    Set what record straight? That you accuse me of cheating on taxes because I'm paid on 1099? You've shown yourself, I have nothing to add.
