I think this was discussed in a tire thread but I couldn’t find it.
What are you guys using for trailer tires? New or recap? USA or Chinese?
Please don’t reply with running out your drive or steer tires on trailer because I don’t have that option at this time.

Depends on if its a first run recap. Like never been recapped before. Proper tire pressure and recaps lastRideandrepair, Another Canadian driver and blairandgretchen Thank this.

I run BFG or GY suited to highway application, new always - never had problems.
Id have to go and check what serial number is on there.
Had ‘Hercules’ on there, cheap Chinese with a bunch of tread, but they all chopped out heavily.Rideandrepair, D.Tibbitt, Another Canadian driver and 3 others Thank this. -
At this point, you might just have to pick whatever is in your budget and available.
Rideandrepair, Magoo1968, Bean Jr. and 3 others Thank this. -
Very true. I found two new Chinese on Craigslist for $500. I cringe at the thought of that but might be a good deal. I haven’t priced anything locally as I’m still on the road. Trailer goes in Tuesday.Rideandrepair, Another Canadian driver, baha and 2 others Thank this.

It's all ways best to recap the tires that you bought new and have never been been run low on air, then you may get a few recap on them if you can keep them off most curbs?

It will take me a long time before I get to the point of replacing steers or drives. Also, they are different sizes so that’s not an option.Rideandrepair, blairandgretchen and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

Nothing wrong with Asian tires. I run em an have had few issues.

I run roadmaster on my trailer and have had good service out of them. I run all Firestone on my tractor. I have considered Firestone on my trailer, but as I mentioned I am happy with the Roadmasters. I don't run recaps. I bought 2 Ironman tires in the past and got a
2 years out of them.Rideandrepair and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
I've never bought a new trailer tire. I have about 5 tire shops on the lanes I run and can always snag a decent virgin (non recap) old used steer from them for 100-150 installed. Most I've paid was 150 plus 25 or so to mount when pickings were slim.
I scored at my local tire shop about two months ago. He had just taken two brand new looking Michelin steers off a diesel pusher motorhome. They looked brand new, best tires I've ever put on the trailer. Naturally I bought both, $100 per IIRC. Motorhome guys, if they are smart, swap their tires at 5 years no matter what they look like.Rideandrepair, Magoo1968, baha and 1 other person Thank this.
