Posted this in the flatbed section because I figured y’all were most likely to deal with this issue. And frankly, this is new to me.

I have an APU now, but I can’t mount my catwalk because of the APU mounts coming over the top of the frame.

Just looking for mount bracket alternatives, or ideas, so I can get the use of my frame back for mounting my catwalk.

I’m sure there’s an easy solution, but I’m not finding it.

    thanks

There’s already holes there in the frame that look unused, why not build a mount that uses them?

Notch the catwalk around the mounts. If the catwalk is the raised type, it will probably be flush with the mounts.

Yeah, that’s plan B, but I thought I’ve seen mounts that come under the frame and press against it. But, yeah, will probably end up fabbing something.

Didn’t wanna notch the catwalk yet because I’m still playing with configurations and didn’t wanna commit. Plus, eventually I’m trying to sexify everything and want it to look factory ish. But considered that as well.

On the other side I have a step toolbox that we made some brackets for. I’ll probably go the same route with the APU using some heavy duty square tubing and existing frame holes. Was just kinda hoping there was some industry standard mount.

I had mine on the previous 3 trucks installed by a shop
All of them notched the deck

    CAXPT Thanks this.

I’d rather not lol, but atleast I know now that that is a common work around.

I’ll try to remember to post pics here whatever I decide to do.

Build your catwalk up the height of your APU mounts plus 1/8 inch and notch the buildup. Then the catwalk looks good and is an inch taller.

gentleroger, D.Tibbitt and F4T6UY Thank this.

Those are industry standard mounts. :) Unless you want to drill the frame for direct mounting, that's about your only option outside of that..and then you'd have to have some kind of isolation mounts to keep the vibration and sound level down. Your choice.
