I’m sure this has come up before but I wanted to double check.

I have 5 mini excavators. They are a hair over 5k each except one is larger 11k

The larger one I am 4 pointing it. Chain/binder on each side front blade chain point and chain/binder on chain point near skids on each side. Strap to hold the backhoe bucket.

The smaller ones 5kish each. I can use chain point on each side of skid and strap on front blade?
Or can I use on chain on each side and chain blade and skid with one binder.

This is a deal where they told me I had 3, now I have 5 and don’t carry 20 #### binder Lolol. The extra two is for another thread…

I have seen several guys do the on chain near skids and one strap over blade and 1 guy 1 chain for blade and skid on each side.

Y’all are the experts as they offer no help at loading dock.

Just strap the first and last one half decent and don’t worry about the rest lol
Idk how many times I have seen that…but please don’t do that actually.

maybe can get two buckets under one strap then chain or strap 6EACFA07-9EE3-443B-9D28-59E99668C04B.jpeg over the track frame but under the track at front and rear on the little ones and four corners plus bucket on the big one.
    Sorry for my crappy drawing

Before the experts answer the question, I want a shot at it.

Four points on the 11k machine, plus hydraulics. The smaller machines are under 10k, so they are general freight. Just chain as needed, and hydraulics don't matter on them.

Keep in mind, this is my try at it, and don't take this as gospel, any future readers...

Kind of what I did , but after ducking the dog for awhile it just dawned on me what I feel is perfect for these and I would have finished so much sooner and felt so much better about it. I’ll stop here shortly and try to get a few pics. My old ### is not adjusting to the heat well. Iowa is freaking hot and humid!!!

I did four point the heavier one 11k,

There is two medium small one and two smaller ones Lolol.

I ended up chaining by the track and the I used the chain with strap to my winches for the blades on the two medium small ones.

I just feel so much better with this way than a few other ways I thought about doing it.

The two smaller ones I chained by the tracks and then threw a strap over the blades.

I then strapped the backhoe arm. There were signs posted not to strap over the tracks. So I ended up running the backhoe straps between the track and solid parts.

I would have been done if there were only 3, I would have just four pointed them. If I get any inkling of movement out of the ones I threw a strap over the blade I will use chain straps to winch on those.

I haven’t been this cooked for months and months. I was ready for summer but I changed my #### mind Lolol

btw, that strap that barely touches chain in first pic has a rubber edge protector between it and chains

Looks to me you did fine. Bobcat seems to give ya more tie down spots. JD seems to be a little stingy on that.

Besides the pics to see what you were working with and their weights (you mention the 11K), the number and kind of securement would have helped to figure something out, but it looks like you did fine. The securement kinds and number would have helped, because I see at least one chain per track this side, but don't know if you also used one chain per on the other side. If you had one chain, since these are not wheeled rolling stock, they are tracked, you may have been able to get away with 1 'V' pull per side, with a chain attached at the scraper/plow blade tiedown hole and the track tiedown point and one binder on top of the rail to tension the chain. One strap for the scraper/plow over top side to side, and one for the Bucket arm from side to side. Dependent on the WLL of the chain/binder, assuming here 4700 lb WLL for a 5/16 chain/binder (3/8 would be more) that would be 4700 lb total (4700 / 2(direct))X2 sides = 4700 WLL lbs. Then you have 1 5400 lb WLL strap for a total of 10,300 WLL lbs of securement per vehicle, which for that 11K would be more than enough WLL for it.

But you didn't list the types, number, sizes of your securements, nor did we have the pictures until you already had a solution for yourself. :)
