36 hours at Smithfield in Tarheel.
They had the product on hand but the customer, a gelatin capsule manufacturer, had requested fresher product, like the little squealers I saw coming in on the trailers as I waited.
Eventually they settled for older product and I finally bailed. Got $800 in detention.
Those were the early days when zi didn't know #### about ####.

38 hours over Thanksgiving at a nasty chicken farm out in the middle of nowhere is my record. This is when I ran reefer. And we hauled raw chicken. In all fairness, the company did pay detention. But I was low on food and was eating crackers the last half day

20 hours but was mostly me being a petty rookie driver. West Rock in Humbolt, TN. My company told me it was a 1PM appointment. I got there on time and went to check in and it's first come first serve. About 15 trucks lined up down the side street. I was aggravated because my carrier never gives me accurate information. My 14 was about up just to get there so I was just sitting in a public road out of hours inching up. It was like 7PM and I was 4th in line before cars started leaving. Sure enough they aren't 24/7 and were closing up. So I just pulled into the abandoned lot next door. I woke up around 5AM not sure when they opened and kept walking over every 30 minutes ago. It was like 7AM and still nobody was answering the door when I would ring the bell. So I figured I'd start my clock so I'm not forced to drive until 11PM or some dumb #### that company always pulled and ride down to the Walmart and grab some groceries and come back. When I got back of course there was 5-6 trucks in line down the side street again. So I got in line and just wasted another morning there finally getting unloaded around 10AM. All to unload 6 paper rolls, which took them a hour and a half to do.

My other nightmare was when I was on flatbed and they for some reason booked a dry van load. Bunch of cardboard boxes on pallets. You couldn't tighten any straps without feeling like you were crushing everything and it needed to be tarped. I'm sure they got a hell of a deal out of me doing that work in 110 degrees in Arizona. And it went to a DC in San Diego right on the border. Awesome. I get there around 7AM. Clearly a place for dry vans I'm the only idiot there in a flatbed. Everybody is watching me untarp. Even the receiving guy was confused and had to figure a way to get a forklift out of the building to unload me because our flatbeds aren't made for backing up to docks huge height difference. I'd check in every couple hours and of course he's still figuring it out. I sent my dispatcher a message around 4PM and told him I got an Uber on the way I'm done with the BS here keys are in the ignition and not even 20 minutes later a forklift came out. Guess somebody called and raised hell.

34 hrs unloading a tanker of hazardous waste through a 1" hose. The place burnt it along with other products as it came off. After taking off the 2 free hours they get, I ended up with 32 hrs of demurrage (detention) at $30 an hour. Wish we still had that account.

I had a 9.5 hour live unload at a paper plant one time. And when they finally got me unloaded at midnight they told me I couldn't stay on the property. So I had to PC 22 minutes through the woods and park at midnight behind a closed gas station in the total darkness. 8 minutes later I got my drive time back but was so exhausted I almost puked. I called my dispatcher and said take everything off my truck. I'm sleeping until I wake up and I'll let you know when I do. My company is so great, they just said 10/4 lets make sure you get detention for that. I got 8 hours detention at 20 dollars an hour. 160 dollars works for me.
