I wonder if their big selling point is still that 30 year stock thing...?
Three years ago their cap was like .52CPM for Company. All they had was company and lease OTR and some type of Dollar Store dedicated thing...
You spent a month and some change with a trainer, then a month with another graduate, then got a truck. That pay was around .28CPM.. You went I think .32 when first solo then quickly made it to .42 some months in.. It took like 3 years to get to .48 and then 5 I think to get to .52; they give a paper with the times-till at orientation....
I was OTR with them for over a year and left for greener pastures.. It was purely because the pay
Some things they do good relatively speaking:
I would actually go back if they would pay at least .62 cpm... I make at least $1,200 a week now and I'm off almost 72 hours a week and have everything paid off; would love to run hard and just retire soon... Not going to live on the road to eventually make 75k-80k a year though, and sure as hell not going to lease-op a $220k $60k truck with x-day layovers like every single mega does....
- Stock program is close to what a 401k does except you don't pay in to it; I forget how long till you can collect but I remember there was a six figure cash payout at 30 years that was at least a quarter mill
- Mostly drop and hook DC(they have contracts it's not junk broker stuff) stuff with occasional mom and pop and beverage live
- Best DMs and shop staff I've ever worked with... All English speaking and they at least pretend they like you. Experienced too not spoiled kids in the DM cubicles or local hood rats in the shop
- Good terminals especially the Murray, KY one
- Layover wasn't bad...
- Mostly mid-west so parking and traffic were not a problem
- I broke $2,000 net some weeks, but it was only cause you got ~3 days a month off and just stayed out running and there were coast to coast loads...

They’ve definitely raised pay but I don’t know if they’ve kept pace with other companies tbh. We’re still on hhg miles too. I’ve got no complaints on the people side. They leave me alone which counts for something in the age of micromanaging. It’s pretty much why I’ve stayed.laaylor Thanks this. -
Just started with PTL and their military appreciation pay package is awesome. I had 4 months of recent experience and with my military service of 27 years that put at 170 months. With that addition the start was .65 cpm not bad, so all service members come on down. Don’t worry I do know how to drive and safety is number. As a infantryman my whole career it provided me the opportunity to drive many types of vehicles. Trained and drove for Schneider enough said. Be safe out there. PTL is not bad so far so good. Will update after I put in some more time HOOAH
Honez, Speed_Drums and laaylor Thank this. -
I don't think I've made less than .60 or 25.00/Hr since I've left; I make more than a PTL OTR driver and I'm home at least 55 hours a week.... I think even megas are typically .50+ right out of school now.... People fresh out of school are making what experienced PTL OTR drivers are making in 2022.... The pay was the only complaint I had about PTL, though, which is kind of a rare thing... -
